Willis Edwin Hughes, 87 of Grandview, Texas died at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday. September 21st, 2021. Willis was born on March 25th, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Luke and Kathleen (Roane) Hughes. He was the oldest of their six boys. Willis graduated from Grandview Highschool in 1952. He also served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. Willis married his beloved, Lenora Quattlebum, of Cleburne, Texas on August 30th, 1957. They had three sons, Joe Loyd, Hoby Edwin, and Billy Wayne.
Willis worked at several occupations over the years, including Farmer, Telephone Lineman, Sheet metal worker, and an Equipment Operator for Johnson county. The family lived in many places but mostly in Grandview, Texas. Willis was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved his Lord and the Church. He led singing for many years.
Willis is preceded in death by parents, Luke and Kathleen Hughes, and brothers Wayne, Dalton, Joe, and Benny.
Willis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lenora Hughes, as well as sons Joe and wife Cindy of Grandview, TX, Hoby and wife Cyndi of Grandview, TX, and Billy and wife Celeste of Springdale, UT. Eleven grandchildren: Lacy, Madi, Seth, Caleb, Leah, Theron, Jessie, Lucas, Will, Oliver and Chelsea. Seven great grandchildren: Makenzie, Brantley, Brinley, Hannah, Miles, Kohen, Deklan, and another on the way. His brother Danny and wife Sue of Grandview, TX. Sisters-in-law Barbara Johnson, Janice Hughes, Caroline Hughes and Venita Moore, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grandview Cemetery Association.
