At the age of 18, Pete moved to New Mexico where he met and married the love of his life, Peggy Sue Caldwell. He worked as an accountant for many years and retired in his 50s to pursue a second career buying and reconditioning automobiles with his son, Gregory Wallace. He continued this career well into his 80s.
Pete was a music lover from a very young age and had a country western swing band called The Melotones. He could play multiple instruments and even taught his beloved wife Peggy to play the drums in the band. When their band would play in dance halls, they would place a quilt in front so that their children could watch and listen to the music. Pete wrote a song called “The Woodpecker” that was very popular in Europe and can be listened to on YouTube. Cars and music were his passions.
Pete loved his family more than anything. He was known as Gramps to all his loved ones. He loved to take his family camping and fishing. The whole family would gather at Pete and Peg’s house for every holiday. He loved watching and supporting all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all their sports and activities and was always interested to hear their stories.
In more recent years, Pete enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers along with Peggy. They also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. He loved their dogs, Lulu and Mama Dog, and was known to sneak them extra treats.
Pete is survived by his daughter Linda McNatt, daughter Brenda Bradley and husband Mark; grandchildren Brian (Misty) Woolard, Carrie (David) Flores, Crystal (Michael) Duhon, Kinny Bradley, and Lucas Wallace; great-grandchildren Kami Flores, Kylee Flores, Skylar Acay, Makaylee Duhon, Jaden Duhon, Richard Duhon, Taylor Duhon, Janessa Duhon, Kimberlie Woolard, and Bradley Woolard; sister Kathy Curtis; and multiple nephews and nieces.
Pete was dearly loved and will be missed by all, as he joins his wife, Peggy Sue, for eternity. In addition to his wife and parents, Pete was preceded in death by his son Gregory Elton Wallace, and sisters Beth Mackenzie, Halloween Brown, and Betty Jean Wallace.
