Sandra Heneghan Obituary

Sandra “Sandi” Sue Heneghan, age 85, of Alvarado, Texas passed away on Sunday March
23, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1939 in Champaign, Illinois to Leon “Stic” and
Rogene Matteson. She grew up in Villa Grove, IL and graduated from Villa Grove High
School in 1957, where she was a cheerleader for the Blue Devils. She married her high
school sweetheart Larry Heneghan on September 14, 1962 in Villa Grove, celebrating 62
years of marriage.
They moved to Texas in 1964, settling in Alvarado in 1972 to raise their family. Surviving
family: Husband, Larry Heneghan. Children: Kelly Gossett (Lonnie), Shaun Heneghan
(Christie), Carrie Harris (Jeremy). 10 Grandchildren: Kristen, Hailey (Desean), Bryce
(Emery), Mitchel (Michael), Dillon (Alex), Matthew, Patrick, Haley (Clay), Cash, Jeddy. 10
Great Grandchildren: Brailey, Dalis, Parker, Reese, Elliana, Rayann, Philip, Hazel, Case,
Blakely. . 
Preceded in death: Parents, Leon and Rogene. Brothers: Ronald and Robert “Bob” Matteson.
Sandi volunteered for several organizations including Santa’s Helpers, Garden Club, Clio
Club, Girl Scouts and her beloved bible school every summer.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 27 from 6-8pm at Clayton Kay Vaughn Funeral
Home in Alvarado.
Funeral services to celebrate Sandi’s life will be at the Cahill Methodist Church in Alvarado
on Saturday, March 29 at 11am. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cahill
Cemetery. The family kindly requests donations be made to Cahill Methodist Church or St.
Jude Children’s Hospital.
