On Tuesday, March 3, 2020, due to natural causes Rudolph “Rudy”
Torres Cruz transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home at
the age of 73.
Rudy was born on October 23, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to his late
parents, Rosendo and Macaria Cruz. At the age of 20, he joined the
United States Army serving his country receiving an honorable
discharge. While in the military he received his GED and attended
several military schools to include: Basic Non-Commissioned Officer
Course (BNCOC), Drill Sergeants Course (DSC), Emergency Medical
Technician Course (EMT), and Combat Training (CBR) to name a few. After his tour in the
military he attended and graduated from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon
completion of graduation he found employment at LTV (Vought) Corporation in Grand Prairie,
Texas where he worked until he retired.
He enjoyed helping others, being outdoors, working with his hands, carpentry, lawn work,
playing golf and watching the Cowboys. His favorite color was yellow. He was a loving father,
grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and an American Veteran, A Soldier
Always.
Rudy is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Rosendo Cruz, Antonia Cruz, Alicia
Vazquez, Willie Cruz, Rosa Cruz Fuentes, Ismael Cruz, Eddie Cruz, and his son, Jeffrey Scott Poe.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his forever love, Ofelia Yolanda Poe; his daughters,
Leslie Denise Poe, Alison Omega Cruz Clark (Darin) and Patricia Macaria Hodges (Dawn); his
sister, Helen “Nena” Ramirez; eight grandchildren: Nikki Lyndsey, Joshua Hodges, Tabatha Lem,
Dominique Hodges, Rudy Lem, Patrick Cruz, Chelsea Hutchison, and Ashley Hollis; and 13 great
grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 3 pm with full military honors.
