In Loving Memory of Bobby Spivey

August 8, 1942 – July 7, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bobby Spivey, who entered into eternal rest on July 7, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on August 8, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas, Bobby was the beloved son of Ward Wilbert Spivey and Lillie Mae Green Spivey. He grew up in Fort Worth, where he developed the strong work ethic, determination, and love for family that would define his life.

Bobby married the love of his life, Marie Spivey.  Their love story began when they met at a birthday party at just 14 years old. They became high school sweethearts at Tech High School in Fort Worth and went on to celebrate over 60 years of marriage-a testament to their deep love and devotion to one another. Together they built a beautiful life in Alvarado, Texas. They shared a devoted marriage until Marie’s passing.

Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was deeply honored by his military service and remained a proud veteran throughout his life. His love for his country inspired many young men in his neighborhood to serve in the military, and he was always willing to share stories of his time in Vietnam with anyone who wanted to listen.
 

Bobby was truly a jack of all trades. Whether it was building homes, restoring antique cars, or repairing something others thought impossible to fix, there seemed to be nothing he couldn’t do. His talent, creativity, and willingness to help others earned him the admiration and respect of everyone who knew him.
To those who loved him most, Bobby was much more than a skilled craftsman—he was a legend. He was respected throughout the community and served as a mentor to countless young people who looked up to him. His wisdom, generosity, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Above all else, Bobby was a devoted family man. He was incredibly proud of his daughter, Debbie Ables, never missing an opportunity to brag about her or spoil her whenever he could. His grandchildren were among his greatest joys, and he cherished every moment spent with Cash Ables, Summer Ables, and Lexi Ables.

Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Spivey; his parents, Ward Wilbert Spivey and Lillie Mae Green Spivey; and his brothers, James Spivey and Billy Joe Spivey.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Debbie Ables; son-in-law, Jason Ables; grandson, Cash Ables; granddaughters, Summer Ables and Lexi Ables; brother-in-law, Charlie McDade of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Frances Bakke of Fort Worth; brother, Charles Spivey; sisters, Janet Spivey Swartz and husband Roy, and Carolyn (Spivey) Moncrief; Betty Spivey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.

Bobby’s legacy is one of honor, hard work, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He lived with strength, integrity, and a servant’s heart. His stories, laughter, wisdom, and generous spirit will be deeply missed, but his influence will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.

A true legend, an American patriot, a gifted craftsman, and the most amazing dad and grandfather anyone could ask for—Bobby Spivey will never be forgotten. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
