Robert Sullivan Obituary

Robert Lee James Sullivan was born on September 13, 1947 in Ottawa KS to George W. and Mildred (Snider) Sullivan. He was called home by his Lord and Savior on September 21, 2024.  He was 77 years young.

Robert was a man that loved God and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleburne. He cherished family and brought a smile to everyone’s face when he entered the room.  He loved to travel and after retiring was fortunate to be able to spend time traveling the United States.  He loved to hike, hunt, fish, golf, and spend time with family.

Robert graduated from high school in May 1965 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army becoming an Engineer Missile Equipment Specialist and serving for three years. He served in Vietnam during 1966 and after returning to the states, he was stationed at the Nike Missile Base in Alvarado TX until his discharge in 1968.  While an early resident of Alvarado, he assisted Hershal L. Miller in forming the Alvarado VFW Post 9299.  He later served as the first Quartermaster at that post.

Robert began his long and successful career with Amerimax Building Products when he joined Howmet in Alvarado, TX in January, 1973 as a cutline operator. After over 35 years, he retired from Amerimax’s Mansfield plant in October 2009 having risen to the role of Plant Manager. He made several meaningful and lasting friendships during his years with the company.

Robert met the love of his life Charlene Tate in 1988 and they were married on March 21, 1990.

If you ever met Robert he had some impact on your life, he was a positive and outgoing person, rarely met a stranger and he made genuine friendships. He was a loving husband, father and Papa.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Charlene of the home, his children; Stacey Sullivan of Alvarado TX, Andria Hearon and husband James of Milford TX, Chad Tate and wife Amanda of Alvarado TX, and Lance Tate of Burleson TX, his beloved grandchildren Kelcey VanZandt, Cheyenne Lewis, Ashley Hearon, and Kaitlyn, Evelyn and Madelyn Tate. He also leaves behind his brother Bill Sullivan of Edgerton KS and several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, oldest brother Jack Snyder and youngest brother Sammy Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor be made to the First Baptist Church of Cleburne, 414 N. Main, Cleburne, TX 76033 or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
