Robert Hodges Obituary

Robert “Wayne” Hodges, 83 of Alvarado and most recently of Amarillo Texas, passed away on October
5, 2023, in the loving arms of his daughter from natural causes.
He was born to the late Ralph and Pearl Hodges, on May 22, 1940, in Denver Colorado. Wayne was a
salesman and loved to interact with the public. He was a route man for Clover Club Foods and Rainbow
bread. He then went on to sale the racks you see in all the stores to most of the companies in the
Western part of the United States. After retirement, if that is what you want to call it, Wayne worked as
a guard at the local jail and thought it quite fun to go out with the prisoners for a smoke. He then found
joy in delivering medications to homes for the Alvarado Drug Store. At the age of 72, he finally fully
retired. Wayne was hard working and was extremely proud of the jobs he had held and won a multitude
of awards in sales. He loved his life and his family and the only true happiness he felt was when he was
helping others. The number of family he has supported or raised is almost endless and he treasured
those times the most even though it could be trying and difficult. His other compassion in life was
smoking. He truly enjoyed it and had done so for 74 years. Therefore. You will see a pack of cigs in his
shirt pocket.
Wayne married his first love Patricia Ann on July 12 th , 1958, and they had 4 beautiful children. Upon her
death in 1988, he was lucky enough to find a second love with Joyce Joan and they were married from
July 31,1989, until her death in 2019.
Together Wayne is survived by his eldest son Milo and his wife Georgia of Amarillo, his daughter Sondra
and her husband Harlan of Amarillo, and his youngest son Dennies and partner Candy of Alvarado,
stepchildren Cheri, Donny, Michael “Tad” Cheuvront, and Jeannie Harp. Grandchildren Mandy, Zeb,
Micah, Seth, Amberlee, Chad, Robert, Bo, Jason, and Justin, brother Randy and his wife Mary, and his
sister Paula and her husband Gary. A slew of great grandchildren, a few great-great grandchildren, and
many nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved companions, his puppies Princess and Minnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Pat and Joyce, his daughter Debra Ann, and stepson
David, two brothers Jerry and Kenneth.
Wayne was a dedicated father, granddaddy, brother, and uncle. He will be missed beyond belief.
