Ralph Edward Whitney, born on July 16, 1956, to Roy Edward Whitney and Cora Lee (Curlee) Whitney in Coleman, Texas, departed from this world on December 30, 2023. Ralph was a proud product of Alvarado schools, and throughout his life, he worked as a dedicated carpenter in the homebuilding business until his well-deserved retirement.
Ralph was a man whose heart overflowed with love for his family. His devotion to his loved ones was unparalleled, and he found joy in spending time with them. A charitable soul, Ralph was known for his generosity, always willing to give the shirt off his back, even to strangers in need.
He had a special bond with his cousins and extended family, cherishing the close relationships they shared. One of Ralph's passions in life was exploring flea markets, where he found delight in buying and selling treasures, each one carrying a unique story.
On March 17, 2012, Ralph exchanged vows with the love of his life, Sherry (Godwin) Whitney, at the Hitching Post. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that brought immeasurable joy to both their lives.
Ralph leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by those who survive him: his loving wife, Sherry Godwin; children Chad Whitney and wife Gina, Jamie Whitney, Adam Spaulding, Christy Spaulding, Jessie Spaulding, Misty Estrada and husband Elvis; and grandchildren Brady Whitney, Karlie Whitney, Bryson Gregory, Gracie Gregory, Hayden Daville, Noah Daville, Zach Daville, CJ Spaulding, Bane Spaulding, Abby Estrada.
He is also survived by his sister, Bettie Whitney, and companion Bill Bagby; sister Linda Avila; brother Tommy Whitney and wife Charlotte, a host of dear cousins and more friends than anyone could count.
Ralph is preceded in death by his father, Roy Edward Whitney; mother, Cora L. (Curlee) Whitney; brother, Wayne Whitney; and brother, James Whitney.
In addition to his many accomplishments and the love he shared with his family, it is with profound admiration that we acknowledge Ralph Edward Whitney as a true warrior who faced his battle with cancer with remarkable strength and resilience. Throughout the challenges of his illness, Ralph demonstrated unwavering courage, inspiring all who witnessed his determination and fortitude.
A memorial service to celebrate Ralph's life is scheduled for January 27, at 2pm at The Hitchin' Post, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share stories, and pay tribute to a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many. May Ralph Edward Whitney rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire love and kindness among us all.
