Moises Raymond Deleon Gonzalez passed May 2, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at home. Known as “Chief” to all who knew him, Moises was a career Navy Master Chief Petty Officer who took great pride in serving his country. Chief served 22 years and had the privilege of serving on thirteen carriers including the USS Lexington. * After his retirement from the Navy, he enjoyed working as a professional flight advisor meteorologist.
Chief was born in Detroit, Michigan to Moises and Betty Gonzalez on April 11, 1931, and lived to the age of ninety-two. During his lifetime he celebrated a marriage with Catherine of 22 years, and she preceded him in 1986. In 1989 he was blessed with his second wife, Victoria Gonzalez of Alvarado, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine, his parents, Moises and Betty and two brothers, Edward and Thomas.
Chief leaves behind the legacy of children and stepchildren who he was blessed to raise over the years. Yolanda Cecilia (Gonzalez) Ticknor and her husband Edward, Catherine Cheryl Denman, Susan Denman, Richard Denman, Michael Denman, Betty Ann Neilan and husband Donald Edward Neilan, Victor Garcia and his wife, Jennie and Raymond Garcia and his wife, Kimberly along with a surviving sister, Georgina Gonzalez.
A graveside interment will be held at a future date at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne, Texas. Chief was awarded a national Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal and will be honored with a military honor guard.
