Michael Glenn Mitchell Sr.

Michael Glenn Mitchell, Sr. was born in Cleburne, Texas October 25, 1956. He passed away on December 1, 2022, at home at the age of 66 surrounded by his family in Alvarado, Texas.

Michael was born to Robert Sr. and Alivea (Buckley) Mitchell. Michael went to grade school in Kaufman, Texas. He and his family moved to Alvarado, where he attended George Carver Washington before integrating to public schools. Growing up, Michael played lots of hobbies, football, basketball, track and baseball. Most of all, he loved coaching and umpiring.  He excelled in High School as a 1976 graduate being Class Favorite, Best Dressed and Vice-President. After graduating, Michael went to college in Kansas to play football.

Michael also loved his family, community and worshipping his Lord and Savior.

He married his high school sweetheart, Loretta (Winkfield) on June 29, 1979, and they have been blessed with four children and eleven grandchildren. Michael was employed at the City of Alvarado, Rangeaire, Johns Mansville, and later retired from Halliburton where he worked as a machinist for 33 years.

Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Loretta Winkfield, children; Kathedral Mitchell Johnson, Michael Glenn Mitchell, Jr., Hollywood Mitchell, and Demetrius Mitchell. His siblings include brothers, Robert Mitchell Jr. (Gloria), Donald Mitchell (Brenda), Ronald Mitchell (Pamela), Melvin Mitchell, and sisters, Helen Thomas, Tommie Hawkins, Laura Hardy (Jerry) grandchildren KaLon, Kenzi, Jacorian, Kya, Daylon, Desmond, Brayden, Kiran, Kobe, Daxton, Talia, father and mother-in-law, Leary and Annie Winkfield, brother and sisters-in-law which have been a very important part of his family life. Uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and so many others that he loved so much.

Special nephew Sammy R. Holbert, Sr. and niece, Shanna Peteet, and a very special family Monte, Wendy, Trevor, and Taylor Holder.
