Mary Lois Marbut, 84, of Alvarado, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1941, in Grandview, Texas, to Bennie and Mozelle Duckett.
Mary grew up in Grandview and later married the love of her life, Doyle Wayne Marbut, in 1956. The couple had just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary, a remarkable testament to their enduring love and devotion. Shortly after their marriage, Mary lived in Hawaii while Doyle served in the United States Army. After two years, they returned to Alvarado, where Mary spent the remainder of her life.
Mary dedicated over 40 years of service working at Alvarado Drug, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and strong work ethic. She was a faithful Baptist and lived her life guided by quiet faith.
She enjoyed bingo, road trips to the casino, and relaxing at the lake house, always treasuring time spent with family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her granddaughter, who was truly the light of her world.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Mozelle Duckett; her brother, Jimmy Duckett; her sister, Sharon Bollin Pruitt; and her brother, Teddy Duckett.
She is survived by her loving husband, Doyle Marbut; her daughter, Deanna Shaw; her son, Doug Marbut and wife Melanie; her granddaughter, Kailey Shaw; her brother, Steve Duckett and wife Gae; her sister-in-law, Jerry Sadler; her uncle, Hardy Moore along with multiple nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
