Mary Louise Alcoze Fenn was born November 3, 1936 in Fort Worth, Texas to Bea and Bessie Alcoze. Surrounded by love and family, she entered into the loving arms of her Saviour April 29, 2021 at her home of 69 years in Fort Worth. Mary was 84 years young. Born of Cherokee decent, she suffered at the hands of prejudice during her early life. She often spoke of the names that she was called and the violence her family suffered for being Native. But she chose to love all who would show love. She loved life, but loved her family above all else. Family to her was more than just blood or your last name. Many called her "Mom, (Mou) grandmother, sister, or Aunt". She loved them all and considered all of them family. She gave birth to three children, Donald Wayne, David Earl, and Mary Joanna.. but raised so many more. She took in every stray kid that her kids brought home and made them family. There are too many grand-kids, great grand-kids and great great grand-kids to try to put a number to. Mary was proceeded in death by her parents Bea Alcoze and Bessie Hardy, both her brothers, Bea Wiley Alcoze and Eddie Hardy. Also by her sister, Bobby Ann Rodgers, and by two grandsons, Shawn Garrison and Craig Yates.
Mary was a 53 year member of The American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Eastern Star. Her greatest joy (other than her family) was going to the various POW-WOWs across the state. She was very proud of her heritage.
A fighter to the very end. Two years ago she was told she had stage 4 colon cancer and had less than a year to live. She told the Doctor that she would leave when she was ready. I Guess She Was Ready!
