Marie Spivey Obituary

Ellen Marie Spivey, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born on September 25, 1945, in Lindale, Texas, to Charlie Christian McDade and Helen (Risenhoover) McDade.

Ellen’s love story with Robert Ray "Bobby" Spivey began when they met at a birthday party at just 14 years old. They became high school sweethearts at Tech High School in Fort Worth and went on to celebrate over 60 years of marriage—a testament to their deep love and devotion to one another.

She built a fulfilling career as an accountant for T A Transportation, where she worked for many years before retiring. Throughout her life, she cherished the friendships she made, especially those from her career.

Ellen’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby; daughter Debbie Kay Ables and husband Jason; and their son, Cash and daughters Summer Ables and Lexi Ables. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Bakke of Fort Worth, and brother, Charlie McDade of Fort Worth. Additionally, she leaves behind her brother-in-law, Charles Spivey; sisters-in-law, Janet Spivey Swartz and husband Roy, Carolyn (Spivey) Moncrief, Betty Spivey, and Pamela Harvey-Spivey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Helen McDade, as well as her brothers-in-law, James Spivey and Billy Joe Spivey.

Ellen had a warm and giving heart. She was an angel of a mother, a devoted wife, and a fiercely loyal friend. She found joy in shopping, sharing meals of Mexican food with a good margarita, and doting on her beloved dogs. Her love and kindness touched all who knew her, and her memory will be forever cherished.

A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held at a later date. In honor of her love for family and friendship, those who knew her are encouraged to gather, share stories, and remember the beautiful life she lived.
