Maria Elida (Canalez) Lopez

Maria Elida Lopez, age 82,of Arlington, TX passed away on September 9, 2025 at her residence. 

Maria was born on November 26, 1942 in Texas City, TX to Librado and Margarita Canales. She grew up in Orange Grove, TX and later moved to Arlington where she and Lupe raised her boys.

She will be remembered for her passion for cooking, her delicious food, her contagious smile, love for gardening, love for shopping, and her devotion to her family and her faith! Her love for her boys and her grandchildren were so evident in everything she did in her life. She will be missed immensely. 

Maria is survived by her son Victor Lopez, wife Sherry; her grandchildren, Jesse, Shanda, MaKayla, and Nicolas along with many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lupe, her sons-Rudy, Ricardo, and Paul Lopez, and her grandson Vincent Lopez. 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 15 at 10 am at Clayton- Kay Vaughn funeral home located at 200 E Patton Ave

Alvarado, TX. After the memorial service, we will have a graveside service at Everman Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, September 14 from 3-5 pm. 

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Green Oaks Nursing Home and the outpouring love and support from so many of you. We would like to thank our pallbearers: Lee Canales, David Canales, Jesse Lopez, Nick Lopez, and Ryan Collett.

Maria’s love and memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
