Lonnie Earl Knotts Sr. passed away on January 31, 2025. He was born in Milford, Texas, and graduated from Italy High School in Italy, Texas.
On January 12, 1962, Lonnie married the love of his life, Bettye Carolyn (Robinson) Knotts, and they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2012, the year of their golden anniversary. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family was his greatest joy.
Lonnie was the heart of his family—the foundation and rock that held them together with love, honor, and unwavering strength. His wisdom, kindness, and steadfast presence will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Dollynda Lee, Elizabeth Clark and husband David, JoAnne Perry and husband Robert, Cheryl Renaud and husband Steve, Lonnie Knotts Jr., and Amanda Bogan and husband Charles. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he treasured deeply. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Jody Aldridge, and her husband Pete.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettye Carolyn Knotts, as well as his siblings: Betty Claxton, Dorothy Perkins, Mary Perkins, James Roy Knotts, and Lou Claxton.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado, Texas. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Stroud’s Creek Cemetery in Tolar, Texas.

Lonnie’s love and legacy will live on through his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
