Linda "Diane" Prater

With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Linda Diane Prater, who departed this life on March 19, 2026, just days before her 78th birthday.

Diane was born on March 29, 1948, in Mountain Peak, Texas, to Julius Goldsmith Garner and Dona Lee (Davis) Garner. She spent her childhood in Mountain Peak and also lived in
Griffith Switch, Venus, and Alvarado, Texas, where she would spend most of her life and build lasting friendships and deep family roots.

On August 8, 1992, Diane married Donald Leslie Prater, and together they shared many years of love, companionship, and devotion. Diane dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker
and was a caring and devoted mother to her children, Jennifer Percifield of Alvarado and husband Paul, Jonathan Prater of Corpus Christi and wife Kathleen. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Paul Percifield of Round Rock and wife Lodi and Noah Prater of Corpus Christi, who brought her great joy and happiness. Diane found peace and comfort in life’s simple pleasures, especially reading and gardening, hobbies that reflected her gentle and nurturing spirit.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lloyd Garner; and her sisters, Dorothy Webb, Mildred Todd, and Agnes Bjerke.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her devoted husband, Donald Prater; her daughter, Jennifer Percifield and husband Paul; her son, Jonathan Prater and wife Kathleen; her sister, Peggy Basham of Houston; her brother, Victor Garner of Alvarado; her sister, Phyllis Whiteside of Grandview; as well as many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Diane will be remembered for her quiet strength, her love for her family, and the gentle kindness she shared with everyone who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.
