He had one sister, Jo Ann, who he loved very much. He attended Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, and later Del Mar College, Houston Community College and the University of Houston.
His inherit love of his music led him to begin playing the guitar at a very young age, and he played in several rock-n-roll bands in his teens. He also expressed his passion for music as a local disc jockey on KEYS in Corpus Christi, TX. On February 6,1971 he married his wife and best friend of 49 years Linda Dallas. His career choices were many, but most notable was his dedication to public safety as a Fireman, Paramedic, Deputy Constable and Commercial/ Industrial Safety Manager. He always enjoyed his “work family” and was a very hard and dedicated worker.

Johnny always strived to connect with people and somehow make them laugh or smile. He never failed to offer his wisdom and help others. He was also known for “not holding back" and "telling it like it is". He loved to dance with any lady that would allow him to. In fact, he and Linda won several dance contests and enjoyed square dancing for many years. He also enjoyed watching football, going to the movies and his precious puppies.
