John was born November 17, 1937 in Lorain, Ohio to son of John Blaney and Dorothy Palmer Blaney.  Raised in Ligonier, Pennsylvania with his twin sister Mary Blaney Dry, John loved to be outdoors – playing baseball, fishing and hunting.

After High School John spent 4 years in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959, stationed in Maine and Colorado.  After his service John attended Saint Vincent’s College in Latrobe PA where he aspired to be an architect.

John however went another direction with regard to his studies spending most of his professional life as a successful salesman.  The last 20 years he spent working for the Fort Worth Star Telegram as a “paperboy” that he thoroughly loved doing!

An avid sports fan supporting the likes of the Texas Rangers and Pittsburgh Steelers, he was constantly seen sporting his favorite teams’ logo while he was out and about! John loved to talk about anything and everything.  He loved to be surrounded by people and always enjoyed a good time.  He was one of a kind, eclectic, and walked to the beat of his own drum you could say. He loved us all and never met a stranger and loved life.

John was preceded in death by his parents (John and Dorothy), and sister, Mary and his two brothers Jack and Gene.

Those left to cherish his memory: Wife, Marianne D’Aniello Blaney, son John Blaney III (wife - Kari), daughter Debra Blaney Haakinson (husband – Dave) and son Michael Blaney.  Grandchildren include DJ Haakinson (wife – Jessica), Jared Smith (girlfriend – Samantha), Matt Haakinson, Sidney Blaney (fiance' – Braden), Daniel Blaney, Danielle Haakinson and Julia Blaney.  Great grandchildren include Logan Haakinson, Kenzie Haakinson and Cameron Haakinson.
