John Max Bailey, a proud veteran, skilled machinist, and lifelong outdoorsman, passed away on August 27, 2025, at the age of 88, with his wife by his side.
Born in Paris, Texas, to Elzie and Gladys Connie Bailey, John was raised in Dallas, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, known especially for the strong bond he shared with his dogs—particularly his hunting dogs, who were his most trusted companions.
John served four years in the United States Army and carried a sense of pride and independence throughout his life. He was also a 32nd Degree Free Mason, an achievement that reflected his personal dedication and discipline.
He worked as a master machinist and retired from Vought (LTV) after many years of dedicated service, earning respect for his craftsmanship and technical skill.
John was a loyal husband to Linda Bailey, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. He is survived by Linda, as well as his children: Talitha Humphries (Craig), Connie Worbington (Phillip), John L. Bailey (Melissa), and the late Monty Bailey. His grandchildren include James Trigleth, Ethan Trigleth, Noah Humphries, Mary Worbington, Daniel Worbington, and Tyler Bailey. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Viridian and Indigo Humphries.
John is also survived by his sister, Ann Bailey of Washington State, and his brother-in-law, Ralph King (Marla). He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Monty Bailey, and his grandson Steven Craig Humphries II.
John will be remembered for his independence, his work ethic, and his unwavering passion for the outdoors and his dogs. But most importantly he will be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his life companion, and beloved wife Linda.
