Joe Leonel Ramirez

Joe L. Ramirez of Alvarado passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025.  He was surrounded by his family during the last few months of his brief illness.  He was born in Pharr, Texas to Francisco, Sr. and Isidora Ramirez.  He was married to Juanita Gloria Ramirez for 38 years until her passing in 1998.  Joe’s career spanned over 40 years as a mechanic for Volkswagen.  Early in his career, he worked at dealerships in Lubbock, Amarillo and Waco. He owned Joe’s VW Repair Shop in Waco for several years.  He completed his career at Autobahn Ft. Worth.  After his first retirement, he then retired from O’Reilly Auto Parts after 10 years of service.  He loved spending time with his family, working in his yard, researching history and watching old Western television shows and movies.  

 He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita, his parents, a sister Carmen Perez, a brother Francisco Ramirez, Jr. and several in-laws.

Joe is survived by his three children, Ernest Ramirez and wife Leticia, Geneva Polster and husband Brian, and Edna Jo Ramirez. Grandchildren Veronica and Phillip Loya, Joseph Polster, Andrew Ramirez, Aaron and Christa Ochoa, Ian Wolf, Michelle and Anson Adams, Valerie and Kristopher Koch, Great-Granddaughters Noraa and Harper Ochoa, Cora and Raina Adams. Siblings, Santos Ramirez, Juanita Herrera, Dora Martinez and Oralia Rivas. Sister-in-law Diana Ramirez-Wittman and husband Marvin, and children, Alex and Kayla Ramirez and Frank Ramirez III. Several in-laws and extended family members.
