Joe Currie Bean Jr. passed away on his ranch in Alvarado, Texas on March 10th, 2025. He was born October 21st 1934 near Everman. He was the first child of Ada Faye Swindoll and Joe Currie Bean Sr. Joe attended Everman Schools and graduated in 1952. He earned his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in 1956. He received his master’s degree from Texas Wesleyan and a doctorate degree from the University of North Texas.
Joe met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Willmon in August 1959. They were married in December of that year and for 65 wonderful years after. Their dearly loved children were Jeff, Marcia, and Greg.
Joe Spent most of his 39 year career as a school administrator in his hometown of Everman. He was also a principal at Crowley ISD. His highest honor came when Everman High School was named “Joe C. Bean High School”. He and Pat moved to Alvarado in 2001 to their High Hopes Ranch where he was active until the end.
He loved the Lord, his family, friends, and home town people. He enjoyed raising cattle and other animals, gardening (especially buying the seeds), and teaching those special and appreciated friends who helped him on the ranch.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Gambrell Street Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a Deacon, a member of Deer Creek Masonic Lodge, a board member of EECU since 1988, and many educational and agricultural organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada Faye Swindoll Bean Ashlock and Joe Currie Bean Sr; stepdad Homer T. Ashlock; brother Roy Ellis Bean and Wilna; sister Martha Weber and Earl; brother-in-law, Roger Elder; and beloved son, Jeffrey Currie Bean.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Bean; Children, Marcia Gunn and Randy, Joel Gregory Bean; Daughter-in-law, Lisa Oakes; sister, Faye Elder; Nephew, Chip Bean; Nieces, Cynthia Renfro, Cheryle Espree, and Michelle Singleton; Grandchildren, Audrey Gunn-Burgess and Tony, Kathleen Strickland and Spencer, Ellen Rodgers’ Gunn and Clayton, Chris Loftis, Daniel Benton and Julie, and Travis Barker; great grandchildren, Ian Gunn, Emaleigh Gunn-Burgess, Layla Burgess, Kristi, Aimee, Caleb, Josh, and Addy Strickland, Harley Davis, Eliza and Aurora Rodgers’ Gunn, Bryce Benton, Jackson Barker, Gavin Sessom; and many other special friends and relatives.
