JoAnna Pruitt passed away August 15th, 2021 at her home in Alvarado, Texas. Mrs. Pruitt was born in Itasca, Texas on January 6th, 1934 as the daughter of J.R. and Recie Irvin. She graduated from Midlothian High School in 1952 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1955 from the University of North Texas, where she would go on to start her teaching career in Dallas ISD. She was an active member of Alpha Phi sorority.
In April 1956 she met Sid Pruitt, who had spent 16 months in Germany serving the U.S. Army. They were married on August 24th, 1956 in Midlothian, Texas, five months after they met. They would celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on August 24th, 2021. God's love is very special and open to everyone.
After completing her Master's degree in education and receiving her school counselor's certification, Mrs. Pruitt continued her school career that lasted over three decades. She taught in San Antonio, Sudan, Grapevine, and Dallas. Mrs. Pruitt served as a counselor at Trinity High School in the H.E.B. school district and Midlothian High School. She also served several elementary schools in the Arlington ISD.
Mrs. Pruitt was a dedicated educator retiring after 33 years of service. She was a member of the Alvarado Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Sid Pruitt, two sons William Pruitt, Sid Pruitt III and wife Myra, Grandchildren Chandler Pruitt and wife Mia, Sidney Pruitt IV and wife Catherine, Molly Pruitt Ross and husband Austynn Ross, Alex Pruitt and fiance Ashlan, and two great grandchildren Elle and Isla Pruitt.
