Jo died of a heart attack and went to meet her Blessed Savior on February 23rd, 2022.
Jo (also called Jody) was born October 10th, 1948 in Hattiesburg, MS, to Nell and James (''Shorty'') Castleberry.
Jo loved her Lord Jesus Christ first of all, and then her husband, her children, and all her family, her friends and her pets. She dedicated many years to the medical profession as a Registered Nurse, loving to care for patients and all ''her children'' as a school nurse. Her passion for writing resulting in one published book and many lovely poems. She loved shopping and buying gifts for all her family.
Jo, with her sweet smile, wonderful sense of humor, and generosity will be missed so much here on Earth but knowing that she is rejoicing with her Savior, Jesus Christ with no more tears, no more death, neither sorrow or crying, nor pain.(Revelation 21:4) will ease the hearts of those who loved her so much!
She is preceded in death by her Dad, James Castleberry, her son, Danny Shoemake, and her brother, Rex Castleberry.
Jo is Survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Richard Shoemake of Alvarado, TX; her daughters Janet Shoemake of Oklahoma, and Tammy Shoemake of Alvarado, TX; her sons and their wives, Shawn and Marie McNamara of Alaska, James and Donna McNamara of Louisiana, her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, her mother Nell Castleberry of Alvarado, TX, her sisters and their husbands; Carolyn and Ken Watkins, of North Carolina; Cindy and Tim Rhys of Alvarado, TX as well as nieces and nephews.
A special thanks from the family to all the Doctors, Nurses and medical staff who helped care for her in the hospital.
