Melvin, Jesse Nicholas, 74, passed away on March 11, 2023. Jesse was predeceased by
parents Jesse O. Melvin and Iryne Mamula Melvin and brother Reed Melvin.
Jesse was the firstborn child of three children in Washington County, PA. After
graduating from High School he joined the Navy and served two tours in Vietnam.
Jesse marched to the beat of his own drummer in cowboy boots, a black leather jacket,
and some Jack Daniel’s close by. Christmas, Halloween, and Birthdays were a big deal to him as
he went all out to make them special. Though he preferred not to have a birthday, he would make
the exception for a Martha Washington cake. He listened to Stevie Nicks as loud as possible and
would often say she was singing to him. Motorcycles were also like music to his ears, and he
enjoyed riding when he could. Heidi and Amanda will never forget the time he taught them to
“make friends with the ice” when driving on icy roads or all the times he made them pick up
sticks.
He should’ve said “I love you” more often and shown gratitude to those who took the
time to help. His daughters would like to extend their love and sincere gratitude to those who
tried and to those who gave up. They feel your love and welcome your condolences. We rejoice
knowing that Jesse in heaven is the light and love we wished him to be on earth.
“ Special thank you to Chris Wyatt (and family) for all you’ve done and continue to do.”
Jesse is survived by his beautiful daughters Heidi Melvin-DeLira and husband Bobby
DeLira and Amanda Melvin; grandsons, Samuel Melvin, and Joel Hernandez, and two great-
granddaughters, Marley Huffman, and Viper Melvin. He is also survived by his younger brother
Neal Melvin and his wife Rebecca Melvin, and so many wonderful nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
