In Loving Memory of Jerry Donald Mabry

 

 

Jerry Donald Mabry, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 30, 2024, at Brookdale Senior Living. He was born on June 19, 1935, in Hillsboro, Texas, to J.D. and Jewel Bain.

 

Jerry graduated from Itasca High School, and soon after, he began his service in the United States Air Force. During his four years in the Air Force, stationed at the Strategic Air Command in Omaha, Nebraska, he met the love of his life, Phyllis Mabry.  Jerry and Phyllis were married for 59 beautiful years, during which they built a loving family and created countless cherished memories. Together, they raised their son James, daughter Joanie and shared in the joys of parenthood and grandparenthood.Their love story began on the roller skating rink, where they shared many joyful moments together. Jerry and Phyllis also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas once a year, where they created lasting memories and strengthened their bond.

 

Jerry's life was marked by his love for his family and his passions. He found solace and contentment in simple pleasures, such as sitting on the back porch with a cup of coffee, nurturing his garden, and crafting wooden treasures for his loved ones. He was also an avid collector of Hot Wheels, a hobby he shared with his grandchildren, who fondly remember searching for unique finds to add to his collection. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed all of the time they were able to spend with him for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays making lasting memories for years to come.

 

In his professional life, Jerry was known for his dedication and hard work. He worked at Henderson Hardware, ACME Lighting, and Woodard Building Supply, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with. Jerry was highly involved in his local community and was the Mayor Pro Tem then ran and became the Mayor of Briaroaks and at one time even the Chief of Police.

 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Jewel Bain, his step-father L.H. Bain, his daughter-in-law Darla, and his beloved wife Phyllis Mabry. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Joanie Bradshaw.

 

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. He is survived by his son James, grandchildren Alisen Bradshaw, Jennifer Holt and husband Chris, Joel Mabry and wife Rebecca, Michael Mabry and wife Tabitha, Hillary Bradshaw, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Jerry Donald Mabry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and touched.

 

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Briaroaks Fire Department.

 

Rest in peace, dear Jerry. Your presence will be greatly missed, but your spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those who love you.
