Jean Annette Snyder, born on September 9, 1938, in Decatur, Illinois, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Jean lived a life rooted in faith, devotion and deep love for those around her. She was a woman of quiet strength and a truly beautiful soul who found joy in caring for others and cherishing time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Snyder; her daughter, Linda Young; her grandson, John Casey Mitchell; and her parents, Victor and Dorothy Ostrander.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Frances Newsome and husband Dwight; her grandchildren, Ashley Milliman and husband Andrew, Shelby Cantwell and husband Jonny, and Bryce Mitchell; and Patrick Mitchell, and her treasured great-grandchildren, Camden, Brooks, Julia, Tuula, and Cade. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Lundin and husband Bob; her brother, Ray Ostrander and wife Judy; along with many nieces and nephews who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her best friend and caregiver of many years, Jeri Rimel of Blum, Texas.
Jean graduated from Lakeview High School and spent her early years in Decatur, Illinois. She owned and operated the Christian Life Bookstore in Mt. Zion, a place where her deep faith and love for ministry touched many lives. She was also a devoted member of Mound Chapel Church of God. In 1982, Jean and her husband made their home in Burleson, Texas, where she continued her work as an administrative secretary for several organizations until her retirement.
She was a gifted seamstress and found joy in crafting, often sharing her talents with those she loved. Her hands were rarely still, and her creations were reflections of her care and creativity.
Jean was a member of Central Baptist Church in Itasca, Texas.
Above all, Jean loved her family deeply. Her legacy is one of kindness, faith, and unwavering love—qualities that will live on in all who knew her.
A private interment will be held with family at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
