James Coleman Cates

James C. Cates, 75, went to be with the Lord and his family who had passed before him. He was born in Turkey, Texas to Jim Lee and Opal Nadine (Brown) Cates and grew up in Amarillo with his many cousins. He loved to travel and see caves and mountains. Most of all James treasured time with his family. 
In November of 1966, James married his beloved wife Charlotte Ann Palmer who was also his high school sweetheart from Boyd High School. They celebrated 56 years and 3 months of marriage with 4 loving children. 
Mr. Cates is survived by his wife Charlotte, children, Patricia, Jason, Jennifer, Rebecca and her husband Arlan. Grandchildren include Jamey, Amber, Christopher, Caleb, Jacob and Aden, Great Grandchildren include Cash, Brylee, Brinlee, Jamey, Alexis, Alyssa, and Aden. James also leaves behind his siblings Paula and husband Jim Lewis, David Cates, Michael Cates, Oleta and husband Rick Martin, Sara and husband Michael Palermo. 
James was preceded in death by his treasured parents Jim and Nadine and two infant siblings named Patricia and Gene Lee.
