In Loving Memory of Gregorio Moreno

Gregorio Moreno was born on May 9, 1941, in Beeville, Texas, to Amado Moreno and Flora Maldonado. He was the second oldest of nine children and spent his early years in Beeville. As a young man, he traveled for work, always willing to do whatever was necessary to build a better future.

At just 15 years old, Gregorio met the love of his life, Beda Moreno. Their love story began at a young age and blossomed into a beautiful marriage when they were united on July 28, 1957. Together they built a life rooted in faith, love, hard work, and unwavering devotion. They welcomed their first child in 1958 and went on to raise nine children together, each of whom was the center of Gregorio's world.

In 1967, Gregorio moved his family to Alvarado, Texas, where they established the home that would remain filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories for the rest of their lives.

Gregorio was the true definition of a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful provider. He worked tirelessly to ensure his family never went without, sacrificing without complaint and always putting the needs of others before his own. His greatest joy was caring for the people he loved, and his devotion to his beloved wife, Beda, was evident every day of their life together. Simply put, he was the best man.

Like so many grandfathers of his generation, Gregorio never sought recognition. He simply showed up every day, worked hard, and did whatever it took to provide for his family. He was the steady, loving presence that everyone could depend on—a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. The memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the laughter he shared have become treasured gifts that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He gave his family his time, his love, and his whole heart, and those are gifts that will be carried forever.

Gregorio was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beda Moreno; his parents, Amado Moreno and Flora Maldonado; seven brothers; his son, Gabino Moreno; and his great-grandson, Isaiah Rodriguez.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his sister, Yolanda Moreno Flores; his children: Gregorio M. Moreno Jr. and wife Viola, Tony Moreno, Mary Hamer, Linda Cruz Martinez, Melinda Rodriguez, Mario Moreno, Carmen Green and husband Kenny, Gabino Moreno and Karen Perez.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Anthony Drew Moreno, Tessa Moreno (Weston), Dylian Moreno, Taylor Moreno (Nathan), Tara Bowman (Paul), Chasity Esparza (Devan), Felisha Moreno, Logan Moreno, Ciera Moreno, Cecilia Maldonado Marshall (Richard), Gabriel Maldonado, Daniel Maldonado, Roman Moreno, Stephanie Santos (Angel), Amethyst Moreno, Beda Moreno, Nekeshia Moreno, Alyssa Moreno, Mario Moreno Jr., Brianna Moreno, Braedon Moreno, Gracie Martinez, Cindy Martinez, Rickey Martinez, Jessie Martinez, Joshua Rodriguez, Shawn Moreno, Alyssa Longoria, Noah Rodriguez, and Jason Phipps.

Gregorio also leaves behind 43 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by his love, guidance, and example.

Gregorio's life was one of humility, sacrifice, and unconditional love. His legacy is not measured by the things he owned, but by the family he built, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his love will continue to live on through every generation that follows.

His family finds comfort knowing that he has been reunited with the love of his life, Beda, and that together they are once again at peace.
