Dovie LaVerne Herring

August 21, 1933 ~ March 20, 2020 (age 86)


Dovie L Knox Herring, 86, of Cleburne passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 in Cleburne.  Dovie was born August 21, 1933 in Shamrock (Wheeler County), Texas, the daughter of Etta Frances Hudson Burgett Parrigin and Alfred Cull Parrigin (step father, but her "Daddy"). She was a wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Nurse.  Dovie graduated from Northwest Texas School of Nursing in 1979. Worked primarily in Home Health. And, had several degrees in Lifeology. She married Alton Knox, the love of her life and father of her children, at Wellington, Texas, July 2, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1993 after 44 years of marriage. She married Dee Herring, loving companion of older years, at Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 1995. He preceded her in death in 2014. Dovie was a member of Alvarado Church of Christ.

Survivors: Son, Ricky Knox and wife Donna of Cleburne; daughter, Rhonda Price and her husband Jerry also of Cleburne; step daughters, Jane Hare and her husband, Lloyd of Panhandle, Texas and Deloris Herring of Paradise, Texas; 3 grandsons, Rick Partain and his wife Shelly of Katy, TX, Rod Partain and his wife Stephanie of Ira, TX.,Scott Knox and Wife Stacy of Cleburne, a "special" step granddaughter, Angie Dorney and her husband Patrick of Norman, OK, a "special" step grandson, Doug Phenix and wife Leah of Alvarado, TX. 2 great granddaughters, Libby Knox and Avery Partain, and 3 great grandsons, Bryton and Zachary Partain and Nicholas Knox. Also, 4 step great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great great grandchildren; and Sister, Willene Judd of Clarendon, TX.

Preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Alton Knox and by her second husband, Dee Herring; and sister, Caroline Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to Citizen's Cemetery, Salvador Cariaga and Alvarado Church of Christ in lieu of flowers.

Private Burial. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
