On Thursday, January 9, 2025, Douglas Edward Scarberry, loving husband and father, passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 66.
Doug was born on June 12, 1958 in Johnson County, Tx to Wando and Visie Scarberry. He received his high school education, graduating in 1976. On February 11, 1984 he married the love of his life, Robin Scarberry and raised a daughter together, Sara Scarberry. After being a successful auto mechanic he was approached by a principal to come teach Auto Tech at Burleson High School. Once the shock wore off, he decided to go back to school, got his bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate and ended his career with 17 years of teaching under his belt. A profession he never imagined himself in but found that he loved it.
Doug’s favorite place to be was with his family, whether at the family home he and Robin shared together or the lake house that they built later in life. Most photos captured by his family included grandkids climbing all over him and a big smile on everyone’s face. He was always there for those he loved, ready to offer a listening ear and most of the time some advice to go along with it.
He was a man who knew someone everywhere he went. No matter where, he was shaking someone's hand and knew their life story. He was known for his kindness and always ready to cut up and have a good time. One thing that he always had on his face when spending time with others was a smile and a big belly laugh. He genuinely cared for and helped so many people and had the love of many in return.
He had many titles. Mechanic, farmer, teacher, landlord, new build contractor, renovator, but the most important ones to him were husband, son, brother, father, Grandad Doug. His legacy will live on through the strong family bonds that he and Robin spent years growing and nurturing.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Visie Scarberry. He is survived by his father, Wando Scarberry of Alvarado; brother, Steve Scarberry and his wife, Shanna of Lometa; loving wife of almost 41 years Robin Scarberry; his daughter, Sara Scarberry of Alvarado; and 3 grandchildren, Addyson, Aubrey and Cooper
A graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery January 16th at 11am.
