Doris Gray Obituary

Doris Alene Sanderson Gray loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother passed away 23 July 2020 at Harris Southwest Hospital in Fort Worth Texas. She passed away peacefully while her loving husband and dear Son were holding her hands. Doris was born 15 August 1949 in Hillsboro, Texas to John Robert Sanderson and Mamie Josephine Turk Sanderson. She graduated Itasca high school in Itasca, Texas in 1967 after attending 1st-12th grade. She attended Hill college for 67-68 and 68-69 and attended Tarleton State College 69-70 ad 70-71 and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. After graduating Doris would marry her soulmate Billy Charles Gray on 4 June 1971 and they celebrated 49 years wedded bliss on 4 June 2020. Doris worked for some time at Lafleur Flower Shop in Grandview, Texas and at Buffalo Electric in Dallas before starting her career with Internal Revenue Services serving in many positions before retiring 30 April 2007 with 30 years of service. On 11 November 1979 Doris and Bill welcomed into this world a son, John Benjamin Lee Gray. Doris served in many Cub Pack Camping Training Team as well as Cub Day Camp. She served as Co-Historian of the 14th Combat Engineer Battalion Association from 2001 to her passing 2020.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Billy (Bill), her Dear loving Son John (Ben) his wife Meike Gray and granddaughter Harper Lee Ann Gray of Hamburg, Germany. (Doris never got to hold Harper due to Covid 19 restrictions) her half brother Glenn Smith Sanderson and his wife Rita Mary of Fort Launderdale, Florida, her sister in law Patricia Massengale of Cleburne, Texas and sister in law Carry Prince of South Texas; many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. 

Doris was preceded in death by Father John Robert and Mother Mamie Josephine, her Father in law John Wesley Gray and Mother in law Lillie V Gray, three half brothers, John R Sanderson and wife Pauline Amarillo and Verdo Sanderson and wife June of Pensacola Florida and Gerald Turk Massengale of Cleburne, Texas;sister in law Shirley Dyess.
