Della Jo Hooks Burks

Born February 18, 1958 in Arlington, Texas

Died October 1, 2025 in her home in Venus, Texas after a lengthy battle with cancer surrounded by family.  

Married Kent Burks on December 10, 1983 in Mansfield, Texas. Moved to Venus, Texas in 1985 and has resided there since.

Her interest included camping, traveling, fishing, and especially gambling the slots. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her grandchildren with all of her heart.

Preceded in death by Father Gene Hooks, Mother Evelyn Hooks, Brother Jack Hooks, and Sister Janice Rector.

She is survived by her husband, Kent Burks. Daughter Shanna and husband My Michael Tyler. Son, Jeramiah (Buddy) Burks. Daughter Tara and husband John Salmans III. Grandsons Lane (Poot) Aubrey Salmans and Jonny Danger Jones. Granddaughter Nicole (Cole) and husband Bobby Deaver. Granddaughter Kendal Clark. Granddaughter Zoey Hope Burks. Great Granddaughter Evelyn Mae Deaver and Great Grandson Jamison Jack (JJ) Deaver.

Visitation will be held at Maypearl Church of Christ on October 11, 2025 at 11AM with service immediately following.  Internment will be private family.

In lieu of Flowers, the family request donations be made to the Children’s Home of Lubbock or Maypearl Church of Christ.
