Debi was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 31, 1962 and passed away on October 17, 2024. She is predeceased by her parents, Rich and Cathy Armbruster, Parents-in-Law Joe and Marge Finden, brother-in-law Norman Cook, Uncle Rudy and Aunt Joan Armbruster, Aunt Rose and Uncle Vince Tocco, Uncle Ken Armbruster, Aunt Nancy Walters and Grand-Nephew Teddy. She is survived by her husband Gerry, stepdaughters Julia (Randy) Howlett and Aleena (Lloyd) Truax and their kids Aiden, Evan Howlett, Lloyd Truax IV, Blaine Truax and Evelyn Truax, Sister-in-law Anita Cook, Brother-in-law Tom Finden, sisters Sue (Tom) Cole, Cindy (Ron) Covell, Sandy Dams, Linda (Randy) Woellper, brothers Rick (Mary) Armbruster, John Armbruster, Uncle Ron Walters and many Nieces and Nephews.
She grew up in Detroit, MI, Kentwood, MI, Florida, and Jenison, MI. She attended Ferris State University and worked for Amway and BASF.
Debi and Gerry married on August 26, 1989. She left her job as an Industrial Chemist with BASF and began her life with Gerry and his career in construction, many times joining him working with him on various projects. They lived in New Cumberland, PA, Matawan, New Jersey, Bowmanville, Ontario and settled into their retirement home in Alvarado, TX in 1999. Gerry’s work further took him to Oklahoma City, OK, Troy, MI, Cleveland, Ohio, Crystal City, VA and Puerto Rico. Debi would join him on extended stays for months at a time.
She was an animal lover and, at the time of her passing, had seven dogs and many cats that enjoyed the food she left for them on the front porch. She was a very successful gardener, and we enjoyed many a bountiful harvest of tomatoes, peppers, squash and cabbage.
When Debi and Gerry rode their Harley from New Jersey to Washington State and back to attend Gerry’s parents 50th wedding anniversary in 1994, she had the foresight to UPS their dress clothes ahead of time. Riding across the country she would often be reading a book as she sat on the back. Whenever they stopped at a rest area, people frequently came up to her, “Are you the lady reading the book on the back of the bike?”
She spent hours studying the bible and very much enjoyed the fellowship of the ladies in the Bible Study Group.
Debi was a gem and will be missed by many.
