Chester Farmer Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Chester Andrew Farmer announces his death on September 20, 2025 at Huguely hospice. Chester passed peacefully into his eternal home after several hospitalizations over the summer months.

Chester was born at home on October 27, 1943 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Jimmy M Farmer and Leona Monk Farmer. He was the eighth child of nine born to his parents. His parents worked the cotton fields & Chester’s mother carried him on her back until he was able to walk alongside & help pick the cotton. As a teen, he was sent alongside his twin sisters Mary & Martha to be a chaperone when they dated. He loved practical jokes & his sisters endured them.

Chester graduated high school in 1961 in Martha Oklahoma. He began his work career as an electrician until the union went on strike in the 1980’s. He then became long-haul truck driver.

While in Oklahoma he met and married Virginia Ann Pelt Farmer in 1979. He first met Virginia at a diner where he was having breakfast with several fellows. He had rejected the plate of eggs presented to him. Virginia simply dumped them out and moved onto the next table. His comment to his friends was “I may have to marry that woman”. Together they raised Andrea Nicole Farmer Gregory. He is survived by his daughter Andrea Nicole Farmer Gregory and husband Chad Gregory stepchildren Jean Hill, Richard W. Hill and wife Lisa Hill, David Hill and wife Shannon Hill, six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Chester and Virginia attended Baptist and Pentecostal Churches. Chester believed in Jesus, he knew and loved his Lord and Savior. He cherished his family very much and spent his last years in his daughter’s home under her loving & attentive care.

In his well worn Bible, he had highlighted:
Ephesians 4:7-13 KJV
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.

Papa, we will see you again soon.

The family is grateful for all those health professionals who cared for Chester. Gifts in his memory can be made to the Alvarado Fire Department whose frequent assistance was invaluable.
