Cecil Lee Hayes, 83, of Alvarado, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Edgar Elmer Hayes and Elsie Adaline (Gordineer) Hayes.
Cecil grew up in Bonham, Fort Worth, and Arlington, Texas. He spent his working life as a machinist, a trade that reflected his precision, patience, and strong work ethic. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Alvarado, Texas.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Linda Ann (Baker) Hayes; his children, Kenneth Edwin Hayes and Lee Ann Hobelman and her husband Travis; and his grandchildren, Seth Joseph Hobelman and Kaia Ann Hobelman. He is also remembered fondly for his hobbies, which included model trains and building with Legos—activities that brought him great enjoyment and reflected his lifelong interest in craftsmanship and creativity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Elmer and Elsie Adaline Hayes, and by his sister, Melba Imogene Hayes.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on January 1, 2026. Funeral services at 11:00 am Friday, January 2, 2026, will be held at First United Methodist Church in Alvarado, Texas, followed by interment at Watts Chapel Cemetery.
