Bruce Edward Harroff, a veteran of the US Army, passed away on November 8, 2023, surrounded by family. Ed, as he was known by many, was born on July 5, 1946, to George Harroff and Lula M Post. After graduation, Ed went to California, where he was drafted to play for the Cincinnati Reds, but he never got the chance to play. Instead, he was drafted into the army, where he served for 4 years. The US Army awarded Ed with a Bronze Star.
After his time in the army, he returned home and married Linda French. They were blessed with three children. He was an avid baseball coach and baseball commissioner for many years. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ruby Makowka, Billy Harroff, Jean Taylor, Ralph Harroff, Dena Jones, Glenn Cossaart, and Hiram Harroff.
Ed is survived by his wife, Linda Harroff, his sons Craig Harroff and Clifford Harroff, daughter Jennifer Riley and husband Bobby Riley, and four grandchildren: Cole Harroff, Cade Harroff, Camden Harroff, and Brenna Riley. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and best friend, Lloyd Jones, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10 am, with the funeral service at 11 am at Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado, TX. Burial will be at Sand Flat Cemetery.
