Billy Gene Rhodes

Billy Gene Rhodes, age 90, of Covington Texas passed away on Saturday August 5, 2023. He was born July 11, 1933 in Thornton, Texas to Chester Rhodes and Emmie Starritt Rhodes.  He was preceded in death  by his parents, wife, Berta Owens Rhodes, brothers, Byrd, Pete, Laverne, and Leon Rhodes; sisters, Shirley Taylor and Doris Ratliff

Billy lived in Alvarado up until 2022. Billy was in the National Guard and later joined the Marine Corp. He served in Korea. Billy was a proud Marine. He loved to hunt and fish. He and Berta owned and operated Rhodes Deer Processing for many years.

Billy married Berta Owens (Rhodes) in September of 1957 and shared many happy years together until May 7, 2021 when Berta passed away.

Billy is survived by his sister Mary Tallent of Cleburne; daughters, Charolett Hobson and husband Robert, Teresa Monk and husband Mike, and Sherry Reeves; son, Richard Rhodes and wife De De; grandchildren, Kenneth(Scooter) Lee and wife Kim, Sondra Stewart and husband Len, Josh Rhodes and wife Robyn, Dustin Rhodes and wife Lauren, Jennifer Vanderlaan and husband Jason, Jessica Brown, and Robert Glover; Great-grandchildren Colton, Nicolas, Caitlyn, Sam, Madison, Marley, Camille, Jaycie, Lance, and Miles; great-great-granddaughters, Paxton and Payton. 

Visitation will be Thursday August 10, 2023 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Friday 11:00 a.m at Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado
