Albina G. Castillo, 87, of Alvarado, passed away peacefully while at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 1, 1935, to Julian and Petra (Valenzuela) Gonzales in Maxwell, Texas. She later married Jose Castillo and together they celebrated almost 60 years of marriage and family. Her children describe her as “Grandma” to many in Alvarado and a maker of killer tortillas. She was a Roman Catholic and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cleburne, Texas. Other than blessing her family abundantly, Mrs. Castillo enjoyed Mexican Bingo and playing Farkle. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son Gilbert Flores, brother, Frank Gonzales and his wife, brother, Domingo Gonzales and wife Cresencia, and son in law, Humberto Leal Sr. Surviving Children left to cherish her memory are Rudy Gonzales and wife Barbara, Ricky Castillo and wife Carol, Joe Castillo Jr. and wife Marquittia, Rosie Pena and husband Rudy Sr., Margie Pena, Josie Castillo and Jimmy Uselton, Herminia Hernandez and husband Rafael. Surviving siblings include Sammy Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, Mariana Ramirez and husband Nino, and Esperanza Gonzales. Albina is also survived by 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home Friday, November 25 from 6-8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm.
A chapel service is scheduled for Saturday, November 26 at 10 am at the Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado.
