Ricky Clay Moon

Ricky C. Moon was born on March 24, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas to Mary (Rhodes) and H.L. “Bud” Moon. He gained his wings and went to be with Jesus and his twin brother Randy, on February 10, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.

In 1992, Ricky met his now wife, Lydia Moon while they were working at the same place. He  knew instantly that they were meant to spend the rest of their lives together. Ricky lived life to the fullest. He was always helping others before himself. Alvarado was home for him. He moved to Cleburne for a little while and Blum, but always made his way back to Alvarado. He even turned down multiple promotions in the Army just so he could always come back to Alvarado on the weekends to go fishing with his friends. He was loved by many and seem to be known by all. Everywhere he went he would see someone he knew and they would stop and chat.

He was an avid bigfoot , reptile collector, and bee keeper. His friends would call his house “The Moon Ranch”. His favorite tradition was going to HEB on Fridays. He would always go whether he needed anything or not. Sometimes he would have an animal in his shirt pocket and it would always scare the cashier when that little animal’s head would pop would of his pocket. He was an avid lover of the Hawaiian shirt and refused to buy a shirt if it didn’t have a pocket on the front for his little friends to go with him.He worked for Johnson County Precinct 4 for 15 years as of January. He always enjoyed his job and was always happy to remind you that he didn’t have to work Fridays. It would drive his family crazy.

Ricky was a fan of 60s musician, Leon Russell. This lead him to a group of friends that would become family. His Leon Lifer Family extends all over the world and they meant the world to him. Through this group, he met a woman who would become a staple in his life, Miss Honey Colburn. She became a rock in hard times for him and his family and he loved her deeply. On November 20, 1992 he met the love of his life, Lydia, he told her that same day that she would be his next and last wife. He had his trailer packed and ready to move to Portaranas , but knew he had to unpack it and stay.

He was proceeded in death by his twin identical brother Randy Moon, his father HL “Bud” Moon, his uncles, Lewis Moon, John Gilbert Moon, Ansel Moon, Billy Bob Moon, Byrd Rhodes, and Leon Rhodes, grandparents, Chester and Emmie Rhodes and Bessie and Hugh Moon, infant great nephew, Alexander Moon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Lydia “Dovie” Moon, daughters, Mary Emmie Moon, Monnica Wingate (Greg Goggans), and Jackie Moon. Son, Joseph Moon (Dacota). Grandchildren, Jasmine Moon (Warren Lomax), Juliana Moon, Hannah Wingate, Maddie Wingate, Peyton Allen, Rylan Allen, and Gunnar Keith. Great grandson, Joseph Moon and expecting great granddaughter in May 2019. Mother, Mary Tallet, brother, Tommy Moon (Becky), Nephews, John Moon (Tracie) and Andy Moon (Wendy). Nieces, Jessica Ott (Jacob) and Kerra Dawn. Great Nieces, Melanie “Mel Mel” Moon, Jordan Moon and Abby Ramirez. Great Nephew, Little Andy “GA” Moon. Sister-in-Laws Bet Elliot (Roy), Sue McWhirter (Julius), Kay Kindt (Larry), and Julia Sadler (Allen). Brother-in-law, Chuck McMannis and Mark McMannis (Sherry). Lifelong friends Jerry England and Kenneth Woodlee.

Everyone is invited to lunch at New Life Ministries following the service.

Interment will be announced at a later date at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
