John Russell Abbott went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2018 in Mansfield, Texas. He was born on December 6, 1944 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Russell and Laura Abbott.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, June 25, 2018 in Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado, Texas at 2 PM.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Laura Abbott, and his wife Mary Abbott.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Lynn Abbott, Tina Smith, Joyce Timmons, Wanda Gaston, Michael Rumsey, Don Rumsey, Brian Rumsey, Beth Gannon, James Abbott, Alan Abbott, Markie Abbott, Scooter Abbott and their spouses; his siblings, Betty Richardson, Dot Maddox, Vance Abbott and their spouses; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
